Who am I?

I'm Matthew Thomas, Senior DevOps Engineer & Go Enthusiast!

With over 15 years of deep technical experience, I've had the thrilling opportunity to immerse myself in cutting-edge technologies like Amazon Web Services, Docker, Ansible, and Terraform. My journey has been shaped by collaborations with innovative companies such as Rawnet Ltd, Hornby Hobbies, Sharps, Dignity UK, and Softcat.

Starting out as a software developer, I honed my skills with PHP and the Symfony framework, embracing the art of solving complex problems with creativity and precision. Those early years ignited a passion for thinking outside the box and delivering solutions that truly made a difference.

As my career evolved, I stepped into senior roles where I could share my expertise, mentor others, and offer strategic guidance on tackling opportunities from new perspectives.

My venture into DevOps was a surprising yet transformative step. It all began with creating an automation CLI for Rawnet using Yeoman Generator, streamlining our project creation process, GitHub repository management, and staging server setups with a single command. When Rawnet asked if I wanted to explore this area further, I didn't hesitate - I dove in headfirst!

Fast forward to today, I'm Amazon Certified, have built and led a department, navigated the AWS Partner Network (APN), and architected one of the world's largest hobbyist e-commerce platforms for Hornby Hobbies. The journey has been nothing short of exhilarating, and I'm excited for what comes next!
